I found this "head - aloft" it is designed for people with disabilities who don't have any or much head control. It attaches to head rests and then helps to keep the person's head in a good position. We are using the smallest size band and it's still a bit big, I think with a bit of adjusting it will be good. Schizencephaly Awareness Day 2024 💚💜💚💜 Schizencephaly is a very rare brain malformation it affects approximately 1.5 in 100,000 US and 1.48 in 100,000 in the UK. Sienna is very RARE Sienna is all dressed in her purple and green for Schizencephaly awareness day. As most of you know Sienna's primary diagnosis is Bilateral open lipped Schizencephaly. The most severe form of schizencephaly. This means that Sienna's brain did not develop like most other babies. Sienna has large clefts (holes) on both sides of her brain. When she was a new born we were told that the brain stem was the only "normal" part of her brain meaning Sienna's prognosis was not good. All of her doctors did not expect Sienna to survive until one. Since day one Sienna has been proving all of her doctors wrong and her neurologist has said that Sienna has rewired her brain to do the things she isn't meant to do - communicate, play, remember, have an amazing personality and best of all thrive. He now acknowledges what we have known all along..... March is Epilepsy Awareness Month 🫶💜 Re-share from our gorgeous client @sweet_sienna_2017 “March is Epilepsy awareness month in Australia so seems fitting to do this post. Today we started Sienna on CBD oil to try and get her seizures under control. We got the approval and the oil just before she got sick, so I have waited until she's improved a bit before starting so we can monitor any side effects that may arise. Sienna is starting on a small dose and we will increase it slowly until we get to the correct dose. We won't see immediate improvements it takes awhile to get into her system and start working. Sienna will be closely monitored by her new doctor and her neurologist. We just want to say a massive thank you to the guys that Sienna's dad works with, if it wasn't for their generous donations we would not be able to try CBD oil. The regular doctors appointments with the medical cannibis doctor and the product is an expensive ongoing cost that just wouldn't be possible without the help these guys have given us. One bottle of CBD oil will only last 15 days or less if her dose goes up higher. “2 years! Around 2 years ago we were getting desperate to find a nurse so that Sienna could attend kindy in less than a months time. We had put posts up and tried searching privately and through local companies but we had no luck. On one of the Facebook pages I follow a new nursing company came up so I reached out with not a lot of hope as they were based in Perth and were quite new, but thats when we met the amazing Caroline and Kim. They didn't have any clients or staff in Bunbury yet but it just happened that I messaged them the day after Caroline had a message from an old co worker from PCH asking if she knew of any work. The timing was perfect. Not long after that we met Helen and I knew straight away that she was a perfect fit for Sienna, Sienna was vocalising and interacting with Helen straight away, when usually she's a little bit shy with new people.
